The Environment Studio FaVU VUT in Brno

Our studio is one of several intermedia and interdisciplinary focused studios at Faculty of Fine Arts. Environment is considered here, in the broadest sense of the term, as that which surrounds us, what it is we have in common. We emphasize that art does not come into being in a vacuum, but in specific spatial, social, political, and cultural contexts (among others). We draw from the tradition of conceptualism, land art, and site-specific art, rather than from classic art disciplines. This does not mean to imply that Environment Studio students do not use painting, drawing, or photography as a medium. Tutors: MgA. Barbora Klímová, ArtD., MgA. Matěj Smetana, Ph.D.

Aneta Willertová: Dance

Well… this piece is called „Dance“ and I made it several years ago (I think seven or so). I was asked by Vašek Stratil (head of Intermedia studio back then) to dance. But since I’ve never had any need to dance and I haven’t actually seen any reason to dance just because I’m told to, I made this video. There is no deep philosophy behind it, it was just an immediate reaction.
