In my Web Design course my attempt is to teach students not just to imagining and shaping ornamental interfaces but to imagine and design virtual environments where to explore new ways of experiencing the real. Guido Segni, Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara

The internet is not the territory

May 6th & 7th

While the world slowly fades away in an increasingly multiplication of self-representations, the internet – missing its real reference – becomes nothing more than an empty-meaning abstract practice: so, what do all those symbols stand now for?

The internet is not the territory is a two-days intervention exhibiting works from my course of Web Design at Accademia di Belle Arti in Carrara. The exhibition starts on May 6th with Gabriele Dolfi’s Colorful cities maps, a project consisting in a series of joyful Google maps remixes.

On may 7th it’s the turn of The Way Trains Go by Diana Kudryavtseva, “an attempt to celebrate downtime” from a travelling train’s point of view, in order to let the thoughts wandering around, from node to node, from connection to connection.
