One of the great powers associated with the arts is the power to challenge expectations, to break stereotypes, to change the ways in which persons apprehend the world.”

Maxine Greene

Sabrina Melis with Aperture (2018) let us see an infinite landscape filtered by two apertures representing her introspective way to see and understand the world – no matter if the real, unreal or virtual world. The open windows are her “wide-awake” eyes, the shadow are a projection of her own apprehension, what remains, what she sees influenced by her cultural structures.

The video Magic Cards (2018) by Alice Invernici and Giulia Carpentieri talks about the relationship between two images of different belonging (aesthetics and communication) that, inserted in the same context, create an open dialogue. Retrieved through Instagram, these images are identified with an hashtag and associated with an object, becoming a Magic card; this, thanks to its interchange ability, allows a new aestheticization of the content and its own language.

“Art makes the petrified world speak, sing and perhaps dance”. From this standpoint, Perla Sardella starts her work Le fuggitive (The Fugitives) (2018). Moving images are made static by scanning movie scenes while they play. The movements and the actions of the characters are petrified in a pose, not completely still, but suggesting a movement, an action, or a mood they were experiencing. In a way art helps people to organize this disparate data, this suggestion of movement, in order to give the scene meaning: we stand in a world of possible forms.

Federica Zotti with her video As You Want (2018) underlines how gaming can be important in a learning process. She puts in four squares four different features of the same learning process, clockwise: the creation of the tool, the content of the tool, the action of using it, and the final result.

The theme of domestication is developed by Federica Bardelli in her Red Brilliant Glitter Particles (2018). In her video, the artist matches and overlaps situations in which men and felines relate and generate various types of aesthetic, referring to different worlds and distant contexts, often producing contrasts. The sequence of videos shows within a sample of different relationships between ferocious animals and men, a critique on different ways of domestication, as possible metaphors and translations of different ways of teaching art / educating to art / making art / generating aesthetics / educating to certain types of aesthetics.
