Unleashing Screensaver was a participatory collaborative project which looked at the notion of aesthetic education and its diversity across fields and cultures. The project was inspired by and dedicated to the legacy of Maxine Greene, and initiated by the Teachers College, Columbia University New York, for Unleashing exhibition.

Over 45 educators and their students from various educational institutions, disciplines and countries were participating with one, two or three contributions which were each be screened for one day. Ranging from gifs, sound files, videos, net art, performative screenings, theoretical statements, curated microexhibitions and many more, they addressed their personal experiences and their attitudes towards aesthetic education, while exploring the medium of screensaver as a potential educational tool.

Every day, there was new project in your screen saver, sometimes even more, since some educators decided to curate the students works into larger units (you can see the documentation on individual project’s sites). Unleashing Screensaver run in parallel with a number of participating educational institutions where the virtual Screensaver gallery has been installed in their computer rooms and libraries.

On the very last day of the show, it is a place to thank all the participating educators and especially students. And of course, exhibition viewers who have been a great motivation. Special thanks belongs to:
