Faculty of Art and Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec offers three study programmes: Architecture and Urbanism, Design, and Fine Arts. The individual branches of study are designed with great emphasis on students’ independence and creativity, and they do at some points intersect. Our graduate becomes an expert, who has the necessary skills to solve creative ideas independently, but is also trained to work in interdisciplinary teams for which the platform of the Technical University is the ideal starting point.
Max Mohl: A Drop In The Ocean
One of the important goals in a wider educational system reform should be teaching students how to approach art, be it classical or contemporary. Teaching them by confronting artists and their creations and understanding the process of creating, historical continuity and conceptual essence. But as important should be teaching the basic logic of digital technology and programming languages, as it has become not only an important part of our everyday lives but also as an requirement for understanding digital art.
In this sense a code becomes conceptually a very important part of digital art and its availability and understanding create the basics for its examination and criticism.
It doesn’t mean that the aesthetics were not important in this sense. The essence lies in the code, an idea that then illustrates itself in whatever form it chooses. Or it can stay as it is to be imagined and “brought to life” by its observers.
