“The objective is to encourage the interest and abilities of our students when they venture into three or even four dimensions with their work. In addition to static and plastic forms,we offer the possibility of working with material in space, time and context. We strive to understand how a sculpture or object is perceived when it explicitly relates to these dimensions, we even want to exceed this relation, negate it and come up with a new one. As a matter of fact, it includes working with technologies, transposing sculptures into an unusual social and cultural context and playing in public spaces. All this represents only a fraction of the possibilities and, at the same time, each of these endeavours may become a quest in its own right. We expect our students to come up with their own questions and topics that will become the subject of a more profound exploration. Our role is to assist them in identifying adequate means to arrive at the appropriate answers.”

Elena Pecenová: FIRST BOUNDARIES – Exploring
video 2018

You sit by the table,
by your first table, in the glow of a desktop lamp. The table has been scrawled on, because you often miss your mark. You have a stack of clean sheets of paper in front of you, what now? You look at your hand, what about tracing it? You put your hand on the paper and try to trace around your hand, as carefully and accurately as a child is able. You take your hand away and something happens, you are bewildered. Why does the outline not look like the hand, despite the fact that you’ve just traced it?
