Natural Materials Studio is run under the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. Studies at the college are organized the same way like art academies in the Czech Republic. It means although students are in different years of their studies they are under one tutor, who focuses the education on a particular field defined by a technology or an approach. There are two tutors in the Natural Materials Studio: Jan Krtička and Robert Vlasák. The aesthetic education there is focused on a personal experience with wide range of materials. The students are taught to be crative through the physical experimentation with materials, techniques and forms.

Stella Hrádková: Unconscious analogy

The project is focused on the analogy of a man-made environment of shopping malls and nature. I compare these to two completely different environments based on the similar noise the both create. The combination of reproduced music and bustle in the shopping malls creates the effect of the white noise that appears in the nature. The theme of the work is consumerism and the effort of mankind to create an artificial habitat very different from countryside, but still with some of the natural elements that are impossible to erase.
