Secondary Industrial School in Lipník nad Bečvou, Czech Republic – course of computer graphic taught by Jiří Neděla.
The three selected works presented in ScreenSaverGallery from May 19 to May 21 were produced by the students of the second year at Secondary Industrial School in Lipník nad Bečvou. I have chosen those particular works for Unleashing Screensaver exhibition for their differentness regarding themes, applied techniques and also for significant individual style of their authors.
The works were created in the course of computer graphic; however I teach the same group of students also the courses of Drawing and composition and Art history. The selected works therefore reflects also my efforts to combine the material covered in all three courses into one organic whole.
Filip Staněk: Power
Power. To posses it means everything for some people. The power to change things, to rule, to be respected. But it is always only a small number of people who can posses power. You can only imagine what can be done with power.
The figure sitting in the screen center is a creature that seems to have no power at the first glace. Its thin upper limbs would not even carry a shopping bag. The power is not only the physical strength, it can also be the mental, telekinetic or magnetic force. You can see all of them in my gif. The being is manipulating with big things, in this case with whole planets. Thus, it shows even the weaker ones that with the inner force and will you can achieve impossible.
There is also the theme of contrast – the planets are in the shades of blue and red, as also the palms of the being are contrasting, and the waves are depicted in the opposite colors. As contrasting can be seen even the use of shapes – circles, triangles and polygons.
